Each year fashion trend analysts study the fashions of the runway and try to interpret what they believe will be popular colors, styles, silhouettes, and fabrics. Usually I'd leave this job to the professionals (plus they get paid for their opinion), but here is my opinion on trends for 2012... for FREE!
This is my story board for Spring/Summer 2012. We will see a strong emphasis on turquoise, coral, lime, kelly green, and some navy. The silhouettes will be very form fitted for an hourglass shape or long and flowy for a beachy feel. Fabrics will be soft, smooth, and light weight. There will also be some tribal prints.
This is my story board for Fall/Winter 2012. We will see a strong emphasis on rich, deep, victorian colors. The silhouettes will be long and straight with emphasis on small waists. Fabrics will be rough, raw, leather, and texturized. Raw unfinished fabrics with popular embroidery will be contrasted with clean silhouettes. Knits will also have a strong hold on the upcoming styles.
Now that you have seen my insight on 2012 I am in need of YOUR opinion. Did you like one storyboard more than the other? Or maybe, you believe something else should be included? What ever it may be I'd love to hear it. Leave me a comment!
I like both of your inspirations! This is a great post and very insightful. My personal preference would be the spring 2012 story-- maybe its just because I am ready for spring, but it just seems so cheerful, colorful and upbeat!
Your second board really hits me the most.( Not saying that the first isn't amazing, because your harmonious colors are very pleasant.) The simplicity of using a smaller amount of images helps you focus on the details of the photos. The earth tones are gorgeous as well.
I have to say that the first board is my most favorite. I love bright colors and the silhouettes you chose are just my style =) I love the ice cream cone too :)
I love both of your boards for two completely different reasons. I love the color choices for spring. I like that you went with more cool colors than warm colors, which is unusual, but kept it springy by using the happiest shades and tones. As for the fall one, I really appreciate it thematically. I'm a big fan of Victorian inspired anything.
Also, not to be a grammar nazi or whatever but I think there's a few small errors in your first sentence. I think you meant to say "analysts" and "interpret" instead of "interrupt"
I absolutely loved "Chilly Flamingo." The colors and images work well together to create a beach-y and springtime vibe. Alice & Olivia is one of my favorites for spring/summer this year as well!
I like both boards. The second board appeals to my eye more. It may be the colors themselves. I would consider stating how the color scheme will affect what area of clothes. Would you see it more in casual wear, business attire, or evening wear or just across all? On the first board, I feel you need more information on the tribal print. Expand on the statement and, maybe, at least one picture of it. Both boards make me want to see more of what is to come. Outstanding work by an outstanding girl!
The Victorian Sophistication board is my favorite. I think the dark rich colors bring out an eye appeasing element that is visually fulfilling. Each piece creates its own sense of visual sensuality if you will.
I think both of your inspiration boards are successfully made but I've been very inspired by color lately so I think i prefer the Chilly Flamingo one over the other. The color scheme is interesting without being over the top and I think there is plenty of pieces to base a line on
